For example, based on traffic patterns (and trillions of API errors) observed and aggregated from Cloudflare's vast global network:

• HTTP anomalies and injection attacks are the most frequent threats targeting APIs.
• Nearly 60% of organizations grant 'write' access to at least half of their total APIs.
• Machine learning found one-third more API endpoints than organizations self-reported (i.e., shadow APIs are a problem).
• Over 51% of API error rates are 'too many requests' (429 errors). This issue can cause organizations to unintentionally block legitimate transactions.
